Remote Learning

5th Jan 2021

Dear Parent

It is lovely to speak to you. I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your family a Happy New Year and I hope you all had a peaceful Christmas.

The Northern Ireland Executive have now announced school closures for an extended period. Naturally, this is not an ideal situation. However, we have been here before and we will support you and your children as we did in the first lockdown.

The School building will be open to supervise our Keyworker children and those classified as vulnerable and we remind everyone that this is meant to be understood as a last resort accommodation.

From tomorrow, Wednesday 6th January, the teachers of St. Patrick’s will be working online daily between 9am and 3pm. They will provide digital activities via the Seesaw app for P1-P3 children, and Microsoft Teams for P4-P7. Daily activities should be completed on the same day. However, we appreciate that this expectation may not be viable for every house and family. Therefore, there may be occasions where work can be submitted the following day. Feedback on the completed work will be provided that day or the following working day.

To further support your children, the teachers will provide a Home Learning Pack which will be available to pick up from the back door of each child’s own individual classrooms on Tuesday 12th January between 9am and 3pm. Please practise Social Distancing when you come for your child’s pack. This initial 2 week pack will provide the materials needed for your child to engage on a daily basis with their teacher through Seesaw or Microsoft Teams. These packs are not to be returned, however, any reading books if distributed should be returned on Friday 22nd January. If you have any difficulties accessing these digital platforms, please email the school.

As stated before, this is not the ideal situation. We would love to have all the children in their classes, however, we are looking forward to the challenges and opportunities that come along with online learning.

If you have any worries, questions or concerns please contact the school via email.

Best Wishes

L O’Neill
