Dear Parent,

I hope this letter finds you all well. Indeed, these are strange and unprecedented times. Life at school feels somewhat different this year. We are very confined in what we can do. However, I hope the children enjoy being back with their friends.

The situation in our society with COVID 19, as you are aware, is increasingly causing concern. The school is making contingency plans in the event of a short lockdown - plans that we hope not to have to implement. However, I believe it is prudent for the school, and for you as parents, to be prepared in the event of lockdowns.

In the event of a lockdown, each teacher will issue the children with a pack of work. In addition to this, the teachers will communicate to your child through different media, depending on the age group of the child. For older children (P.4.-P.7.) this will be through Microsoft Teams and/or the school homework portal on the website; for younger children (P1-P3) it will likely be through the medium of Seesaw and/or the school homework portal on the website. (Please see folder in P4-P7 Homework Portals with specific information on how to support you with Microsoft Teams, information will follow in relation to Seesaw).

However, we would like you to be able to communicate with your child’s teacher via the teacher’s C2K e-mail. Each class teacher will issue you with his/her e-mail through the child’s homework portal on the school website.

Please return an e-mail to the teacher once you access this correspondence. This means that the teacher will then have all your e-mails on an electronic basis.   This communication line is only to be used in the event of a lockdown. If you need to contact the teacher otherwise, contact the school office as is the normal practice. For a lockdown situation, the teacher will respond between the hours of 9am until 3pm. If e-mails were to arrive after this timeframe, the teacher would respond to them from 9am the next morning.

If you have any other problems, distresses etc. you always know that you can e-mail me at info@mullanaskea.enniskillen.ni.sch.uk I will return to you as promptly as I can.

I hope I have not instilled panic but I just want us all to be prepared and Please God this will not happen.

I want you to know that I miss seeing you and miss having you in the school. This time of year would have seen the School Mass, the P.1. Induction Programme and all the Information Evenings. We would also have had P.T.A. meetings and events.

It is too easy to look back and feel sad, we must keep looking forward, and as long as we are all well and continue to be so, we will get through this with hope and optimism as we always do in this community.

My Very Best Wishes to You All,

Ms. O’Neill.
